Mid Century Modern Cream and Brown Studio Pottery Vase, Aldo Londi for Bitossi Italy
$825.00
Very scarce Mid-Century studio pottery created by artist Aldo Londi for Bitossi Italy. This beautiful vase features the iconic Bitossi geometric relief, which Aldo Londi is so famous for. The gorgeous deep chocolate and cream color scheme on this vase is one of the rarest and most difficult to find. It is incredible!
Aldo Londi was an Italian artist, who started his career in ceramics when he was only 11 years old. In the 1950s, Londi was made Art Director of the famous Bitossi family ceramics studio in Montelupo. It was for Bitossi that he designed his most famous and collectible line of pottery, Rimini Blu. Rimini Blu was named after the major road junction that connects Central and Northern Italy as well as the stunning glaze combination used for the line, combining layers of blue and turquoise. This line was widely distributed in the United States by Raymor, who was the most influential importer of modern decorative arts in the Mid-Century.
